First plays announced: “Going After Alice” and “Carve”

August 1, 2009

Story Slam! is proud to announce the first two plays that will be read in concert, starting Friday, Aug. 14. Tickets will go on sale soon. Stay tuned for details.

Going After Alice

By Megan Mostyn-Brown

A teenage girl copes with her brother’s absence in Iraq with tattoos and self-inflicted pain while her father sees a therapist and her mother strikes up a relationship with an imaginary but wise child in this cutting-edge drama.

Performances: Aug. 14-15; 28-29

Carve

by Molly Smith Metzler

An egotistical male artist is forced to admit that his only major successful painting is basically the work of his young female assistant/girlfriend, who keeps having nightmares that have inspired his art. And who is the young man who keeps calling on them to find out the identity of the painting’s model? A funny, brave social comedy that was recently produced in London.

Performances: Aug. 21-22; Sept. 4-5
